Northern Peninsula Area Climate Economic Precinct Master Plan

About the Project:

The Northern Peninsula Area Climate Economic Precinct Master Plan is a forward-looking framework designed to position the NPA as a regional leader in climate-smart development, circular economy innovation, and community-driven industry growth.

Led by UP North in collaboration with Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council, the project identifies strategic opportunities to harness the region’s unique assets, including land, people, and culture, while addressing climate vulnerability, infrastructure limitations, and economic resilience.

The Master Plan sets out a staged, place-based vision for investment-ready precincts that support renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste innovation, and Indigenous enterprise. It incorporates land use planning, infrastructure coordination, tenure considerations, and governance models that respect Traditional Owner aspirations and promote local employment.

Grounded in cultural values and guided by local knowledge, the Master Plan aims to support long-term economic self-determination, reduce reliance on external supply chains, and prepare the region for emerging industries and funding opportunities.
